Using the accepted rules, linear response, Freeman Dyson calculated that each Orion launch would kill .1 to 1 people via Cancer. This is about the same risk created by driving 18 million miles in a car.

The deeper uncertainty in this estimate is hormesis, the LNT theory may be not just on over estimate, but the reverse of the truth at some doses.
